Western North Carolina Chapter,

Military Officers Association of America

Welcome to the Western North Carolina Chapter, Inc., the Black Mountain Satellite and the Smoky Mountains Satellite of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).  For those in the western part of the state, the Smoky Mountains Satellite is up and running.  See calendar for next meeting.

MOAA is a nationwide organization boasting a membership of about 370,000 and comprised of both commissioned and warrant officers ... active-duty, regular and reserve, former and retired ... from all branches of the armed services, the Public Health Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the National Guard. Auxiliary memberships are available for surviving spouses of deceased officers.

Greetings.  At our general membership meeting on Saturday, 19 November, we will participate in the Department of Defense commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.  All chapter members who served in the Armed Forces of the United States from November 1, 1955 thru May 15, 1975, whether in the Republic of Vietnam or elsewhere around the world, or are a Surviving Spouse of someone who served during this period, will be presented a commemorative lapel pin.

Upon arrival at the Club, you will find chapter members in the vicinity of the welcome table at the top of the stairs leading to the meeting room.  If you wish to be recognized and receive a pin, please sign up prior to going downstairs. During the program, you will be recognized and asked to stand, at which time a chapter member will bring you a pin.

DOD is also providing posters, bumper stickers and other materials in support of this program, which we will use to remind or inform all present of the service rendered to our Nation during this conflict.  A display area will set up for members who wish to bring mementos to help personalize the remembrance.

It is also appropriate to recall the dedication, service and sacrifice of chapter members who have served in other conflicts in defense of freedom and democracy while wearing the uniform of the Armed Forces of the greatest Nation in history.

Please join us.

Respectfully,

Col Spence Campbell USA {Ret}
President, WNC MOAA
