In the wake of the devastating destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, the Asheville Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ) suffered catastrophic damage, displacing its veteran residents. Many lost everything they owned except for what they could carry during the urgent evacuation just before floodwaters overtook the property.

In response, WNC-MOAA has stepped up to provide critical support to our fellow veterans during this difficult time. Chapter members have donated clothing and personal items to help residents rebuild their lives. Additionally, WNC-MOAA members are volunteering their time to prep and serve meals to VRQ residents and staff as they adjust to their temporary housing at the Quality Inn while the VRQ is rebuilt.

Our chapter remains committed to standing with our veteran community, ensuring that those who have served our country receive the care and assistance they need. We will continue to support the VRQ residents as they navigate their “new normal” and work toward recovery.
